Purpose: To evaluate acceptable compression rate of JPEG2000 of digital mammogram image with standard phantom.
Materials and Methods: 3 mammogram were performed with different KVP and MAS condition with standard mammo-phantom. All images are compressed with rate of original image, 5:1, 10:1, 20:1, 40:1, 80:1, 160:1, 320:1 by JPEG2000 compression protocol. All of 24 images are scoring by radiologist with counting of visible fiber, calcification and mass.
Results: The observer could detect the 5 fibers, 4 calcifications, and 4 masses although different exposure condition and all compression rates.
Conclusion: All images are over the criterion of mammogram image quality control in Korea. Mammo-phantom images have homogenous back ground than real mammogram images. This reason made greater compression rate without image deterioration. So lossy compression with mammophantom images cannot be use for determination of clinically acceptable compression rate.
